New rifle for the Rangers.
|
I like it. Looks like a metal 10 round mag? 22" barrel?
I wonder if they'll be available to the public |
Looks like a ruger scout rifle:thinking-006:maybe should have looked in that direction too:thinking-006:
|
Looks good.
Just wish they would sell the old enfields. I assume they'll melt them. |
If Colt Canada is to produce the barrel, bolt & receiver under licence are they a separate entity from Colt in the US which is undergoing receivership? It would be hard to get those made if the machinery is currently on the auction block.......
|
plastic bolt shroud, I guess they don't know the effect of -50 on plastic :thinking-006:
|
I'll bet one of those will cost twice as much as a C7 but I guess the gubby doesn't want our first line of defence toting scary army guns.

Sako rifle for Canadian rangers

I'm sure our boys will be glad to have the new gear. Nice rifle. |
little weird looking for me, but its good that they wont have to use those old rifles anymore!
|
It looks like a T-3 to me. Apparently it's being built under license from Sako by Colt Canada.
|
Looks like a cross between tikka, and rugers scout rifle. They would sell a dump load if they hit the market.
|
Nice.
Probably about time they upgraded from the Lee Enfield No. 4 :) |

Well, at least they didn't decide to saddle them with a danged semi something or other!!
Well protected irons, I could hunt with that puppy!:sHa_shakeshout: Too much fluff in that pelican , IMO, they could simply have gone with a quality drag bag and be done with it!:thinking-006: Cat |

No one good enough in this country to build a gun or maybe there is no maker that can fill that order?sako is a very fine gun maker but it would be nice to make our own stuff.

So in essence the rifle is being made in Canada. |

I think they are really nice but then again I'm a tika/sako fan.
|
Artic armies don't carry bolt guns any more, why should the rangers. Armalite was .308 originally and many are sold that way today. Canada could buy SKS rifles at $50 a pop and they would be way ahead as many of the issued rifles are damaged beyond repair due to the harsh usage. Sako? Hah!

Second, 5.56mm is NOT a round that these guys want. The rifle is mainly used for hunting and defence from Polar Bears. The .308 is more than adequate for those purposes. 5.56mm- not so much |

Oh, and every professional army in the world still uses bolt guns! The Rangers mandate is NOT defence! It is presence, nothing more. |

Question for the military guys - do these get a scope as well? How are they chosen? |
