Buffalo Hide
Hey guys. I have a Buffalo hide that has been fleshed and dried . Can someone tell me if this is legal to sell as is ?

Did you trap it?

Seeing that this is your first post in 14 years, I doubt you'll reply to my lame humor.
Yes, you can legally sell it. If it is just fleshed and dried, but not properly salted, it isn't worth much at all. A salted buffalo hide is worth just a bit more. The value is in the finished product, tanned hair on or as leather, not the raw hide. |
Thanks for the response. It was left behind by a Tennant and not really sure what I should do with it. It was hung over a deck railing and is very stiff but looks to be fleshed very clean.

It was left behind because it is garbage.
Perhaps something could be made from it, but that is very questionable. I buy a few raw buffalo hides every year. With buffalo farming, hides are quite easy to get for $20-50. A well cared for salted and well scraped hide might get $100. This one, I wouldn't bother with for free. Too much risk. IMO, save yourself and prospective buyers the hassle. Cut it up and into the green bin. |
