Matheson should have his press pass removed, or at least suspended for a while. What a total ******* question to start a season. It could have been asked in a million better ways. You can bet that within that dressing room, he’s persona non grata. One word answers and no availability beyond the minimum requirement for the season.

As for Spector, there are A LOT of guys out there that Sportsnet could tap to take his place that would be a big upgrade. Regardless of your views, the personal attack on Archibald was completely uncalled for. It was covered infinitely better by the guys at Oilersnation and elsewhere, who simply presented the facts.

There’s a few question marks around the roster for sure, but every team has those. I’m more optimistic about this roster than any Oilers team in the last decade +. In a very short time frame, we’ve gone from dreaming of making the playoffs, to not being satisfied with anything short of a couple playoff round wins and a Stanley Cup. That’s a remarkable turnaround, and I think the pieces are in place to sustain that level of play for a long time. Pretty good time to be an Oilers fan…
