Idaho Trappers Association January Fur Sale
Post from the ITA’s Facebook page:
January 2022 Idaho Trappers Association Fur Sale The only rundown I will offer is some poor handled items drove down prices of fisher, kit fox, otter and red fox. 1/3 of the bobcats were from Arizona and New Mexico and hurt cat prices some. The better furred A and A/B bellied cats did extremely well. Coyotes were not a suprise but still disappointing to many. My personal coyotes were bought by Rocky Mountain's buyer and were $41 and had some rubbed coyotes and earlies thrown in the pile. I saw a nice high-line collection that was in the low 50's but that was the exception. I didn't include all the misc and tanned fur so the post wasn't so long. Top lot coyote went for 225$ if I read that right. Not too bad. I don’t know what quality of coyotes go to that sale in the Idaho area? Would they be similar to what we’d see in southern BC and Alberta?

Good money in elk and deer antlers!

Based on previous Idaho auctions, the average for coyotes is lower than it usually is. Montana hosts the Western Fur Auction in mid-February. The results from that one may provide enough insight to make a decent guesstimate of what coyote prices might settle at. Beaver and red fox look alright to me. |
Beaver are the real surprise. Only 173 offered, but still....maybe time to go cut some ice.
Every puddle has an active lodge, seems like. |
Dave thanks for posting. The only positive is that we can apply a 20% premium for our C$. I like to apply a gas/diesel price ratio to fur price numbers. Does not look to good this winter with $1.40 diesel.
