ice auger extension required up north?
Hello all, I'm headed up to slave lake area next weekend and I am wondering how deep the ice is and if I need and extension for my auger.

No extension.

Why not take it with you just in case?

I was there last weekend and had about 4" left till the powerhead touched the ice/snow. Had the extension along but didn't need it.

I'd hate to drive all the way from Airdrie up to Slave, and wished I had one. That would suck.
Go get it. You might not need it, but you should have it. |
Slave and Utikama did not need an extension as of this week. No harm in bringing one though, I personally hate even getting close to the end of my auger... I don't like getting water on the transmission case and I once had an auger get pinched with the handles pretty much right on the ice... now try and get that free without breaking something!

It's good to take an extension along. These guys were lucky they had theirs along.

I was almost right to the gear-case of my auger last week on slave with a 6" extension.

Thank you to all that replied, what a great website!

Old philosopher(not Confucius), far better to have it with you and not need it, than to need it and not have it with you!!!:bad_boys_20:
