Jump in Barnes LRX .280 AI
Have a .280 AI and going to try some Barnes LRX 145gr. Curious how much “jump” everyone is using to find the best accuracy ?

Since no two barrels have identically dimensioned leades, your question is best answered by Barnes themselves.
1. Where do I seat the TSX, Tipped TSX and LRX bullets? When loading a Barnes TSX, Tipped TSX or LRX bullet, your rifle may prefer a bullet jump of anywhere between (a minimum of) .050” up to .250” or more. This distance off the lands (rifling), aka "jump" may be limited to the rifles throat length, magazine length and bullet length. |
I have a 280 Rem and jump the bullets 0.180" due to a shortish magazine box. Accuracy is outstanding.

i am only approx .070 off of lands. this is in a Fierce .280 AI . the only bullet i use is the Barnes 145gr LRX
As stated all chambers are different , my 700 is the Linda Lovelace of chambers. |
70 thousandths has never not done great things in my barrels.

Anyone using the Barnes 127 gr. LRX in a Sako S20 6.5 Creedmoor. If so, what powder are you using?
