270win. 110gr ttsx

Who is running these bullets in there 270wcf? What kind of velocity and Accuracy are you getting?

Ran them in my Mrs, 22" bbl'd SPS Rem 700 and got 3215fps with a stiff load of IMR 4350, accuracy was typical for what this rifle will do. Win brass, WLR primers, 0.012" off the lands.

I also tried them in a 20" bbl'd Savage 116(muzzle brake cut off) and managed to get 3085fps with H4350, accuracy was on par with any other bullets I tried in that rifle. R-P brass, CCI 250 primers, 0.018" off the lands.

Sadly this load development was done during the height of Obama's second foray into trying a gun grab, and I couldn't find another box of them anywhere, so I settled on plain Jane, Hornady 130's in both rifles for hunting bullets.

WSS has a bunch in gp 50 bucks per 50. I have price tags from last year that show 60 bucks. I chronoed my last years load of imr4350 and I had 3320fps. I upped the charge by a 1/2 grain and I'm recording 3420-3430fps. I was surprised of the jump over 1/2 grain. This is max load from Barnes for that powder.

0.5 of a grain and you went up 100fps. I'd say you've now got a load that is truely over pressure in your rifle. 100 fps gains you what? 80ftlbs more energy, and a whopping 0.5 MOA less drop at 500 yds.

It doesn't matter what max is in Barnes manual, that's there lot of powder, their components, run through their test platform.

Save your components and back the load off, the gains mean nothing in the real world.

I'm not getting any stuck bolt or flattened primers or anything like that. The internet hype is 3400 ish in a 270wcf. So I was wondering if anyone on here has been using them. I thought perhaps my chrony was out but I tried a proven load and it's speed was as suspected. But I think it maybe a little hot. Interestingly I had a 270shortmag that I tried these bullets in and I had stuck bolt 2grs below max. It wouldn't push them faster than 3000-3100 prior to issues. I'm surprised no one here has been using them.

Unless a guy can push them near 3500 fps like the manuals suggest there isn't much point in shooting them. Less penetration, less energy, slow down faster, drift more, etc.
I've settled on a 129 lrx pushing 3200 or a 140 accubond at 3100 and feel I get the most of my 270 win.

I'm experimenting with them. I shot an elk at 200m last year and it flopped over. So how long is your tube to get 3100 fps with a 140 acuubond? That's fast. I was pushing the 140 accubonds in the 2850fps ballpark.

It's 24" but I had the velocities wrong. I'm looking at my book now and I get 3k from 140 accubonds and both imr 4831 and imr 7828.
I get 3170 fps from the 129 lrx and imr 4831 and 3150 fps from h4350.

I had a 22" tube on this rifle before and when I rebarreled I picked up about 100 fps through all the weight ranges.

I went back down 1/2gr and I am back to 3300fps. Has anyone seen any Rl17 powder any where? WSS has 15 but 17 I have not seen
