wildwoods 01-08-2022 02:50 AM

7.5 is my guess. Looks like a false annuli between year 5-6

marky_mark 01-08-2022 03:46 AM

Super tight curl

South west trappin RG 01-08-2022 04:29 AM

8

waldedw 01-08-2022 04:30 AM

7 for sure and possibly 8, one is hard to tell, no matter he's a beauty

Manning74 01-08-2022 06:12 AM

I believe him to be 10 -11 , his last three years growth are short ones but way to deep to be false ,

JohnB 01-08-2022 07:43 AM

10

SouthWestRanger 01-08-2022 09:07 AM

7-8, tight curl is right

Sheepcrazyguy 01-08-2022 09:12 AM

7.5

wildwoods 01-08-2022 09:43 AM

I do think I missed one by his base. Changed to 8.5

Great post OP!

Gonna go with 7.5, he's done well, there are claims the further north in Alberta you go, the tighter the curl because of slower growth rates.

Grizz

Hunt4Ever 01-08-2022 10:27 AM

Also 10

Dewey Cox 01-08-2022 11:20 AM

Cut the horn and count the rings.

nimrod 01-08-2022 11:57 AM

I don't care about how old the sheep is, he's a shooter for sure

bdub 01-08-2022 01:07 PM

8.5

David Henry 01-08-2022 03:09 PM

This ram is in his tenth year I believe.

OL_JR 01-08-2022 03:28 PM

8.5-9 I suspect. Guess it depends what time of year the pic was taken :).

silver lab 01-08-2022 04:09 PM

He’s 10.
OP, do we know his real age or are we just guessing until it turns into a argument?

Smokinyotes 01-08-2022 04:27 PM

I would only be guessing at his age cause I can’t tell on this iPad. He sure is tight.

Rackmastr 01-08-2022 04:27 PM

I've got 8.

ram crazy 01-08-2022 05:27 PM

10

wildwoods 01-08-2022 05:50 PM

I’m getting 8.5. The 3 circles appear to be false annuli (to me at least). Definitely not seeing 10 years on this sheep.

Such a tight curled guy hey? Wow

Nice Ram age test

I only count 7. Few false ones in there
Then again, I’ve only been learning about sheep for a few months. Some seem to be much tougher than others

Yes the lamb tips are almost 100% in tact here

That much growth in the first year, eh? Cool

A little less. Tough to be “accurate” while editing a photo haha. Maybe 3/4” less

marky_mark 01-08-2022 07:22 PM

This is why alberta can never rely on age for sheep harvests

Exactly what I was thinking earlier. Just too hard with a big horn

albertadave 01-09-2022 09:45 AM

8, or 8.5 depending on your preference. No question.
As far as bighorns go, that particular ram is not hard to age.
