Check out Boyd's gun stocks. You can get unfinished stocks through them. Or keep an eye out in the buy and sell for someone selling the same stock for the firearm in question.

What kind of stock do you want to try first, rimfire center fire. 2 piece shotgun stock? FS

i just got a black laminite unfinished from boyds, although i could have just put a finish on it and call it good, i found it was very proud of wood on pistal grip and action area. i feel if your a first timer, this is an exellent way to go as the shape is already there, you can fine tune it to your liking. the stock cost 70.00 shipping was a bit high, but for 112.00 i had it in about two weeks. if you were to find a good blank of wood, you could be in the neibourhood of 2-3 hundred. with all the inletting done and shape set, you wont get a more reasonable price for a VERY good product

Most gun shows have a couple of booths selling stocks.

Boyds will ship to canada as long as the stock is less than a 100$ which most of their stocks are. For sure the unfinished ones. Shipping will be 45-50$. They are great stocks and you usually get it to your door within a couple weeks. Go to the website, pick your stock and order it. Easy peasy!

They can't cut even a hint of an inlet into a stock coming to Canada. The outside shape will be there, but no inlet. At all. I just phoned yesterday.

Boyd's it is...

Do they usually fit pretty good or is there a lot of fiddling around?

They've gone up in price a bit.

I have the exact same stock on one of my Parker Hales.... Nutmeg... love it.
