New to the Bow
I'm thinking about trying the Bow for the first time in a few years ( and I wasn't very successful then ) Just wondering what would be the best thing to try at this time of year. Streamers, nymphs or wireworms ? Thanks for any help.

While I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best set up, one of the classic Bow River set ups is using floating line, and indicator, about a 9' leader to a heavy (let's say size 2 or 4 to start) copper wire san juan worm, and then about a dropper fly about 3' from the san juan. With the weight of the san juan, you don't need to use split shot. Try your basic prince nymph / pheasant tail / gold ribbed / copper john type of droppers as starters. One of the keys will be mending your line for a drag free presentation along the bottom of the river. adjust your indicator according to how deep you're fishing - good luck and be safe.

One thing to keep in mind right now is that some of the access is closed due to Covid 19 ie Fish Creek and any other Provincial park access. Nymphing or streamers are the ticket at this time of year but more important is the type of water you fish them in. You might want to wait a bit till it warms up again though.

The fish are there..... I'm having more luck nymphing with a drop shot rig than with streamers. Make sure you look for the deeper, green tinged water.
