Do we have them in Alberta or do they stay further north?

Positrac 06-21-2019 10:56 PM

Cool video. The only thing that would have made it better is if they opened the door and kicked Sparkle Socks out into the middle of them....

I have only seen one in my life. It was on a Caribou hunt in the NWT.
He actually ended up being the 6th largest ever shot.
He now resides in my Dads basement.
There was and is a slight discussion about who shot him. 2 holes in that beast.
I let Dad pay for the Taxi and he gets to stop him for me. LOLOL

God I liked that trip. Not the outfitter but I liked that trip. Someday, I will go again. I am afraid Dad is not up for such a adventure again and I am so grateful that we had the chance to do that together.

I saw one crossing the road at Devon just outside Conklin about halfway between J1 & J2 about 5:30 in the AM.

Saw him from quite a ways back and couldn't figure out his shape in the dark but when I got fairly close there was no mistaking it.

Only one I ever saw.

Had a wolverine going through our pasture near Wabamun lake couple years back.

Saw one years ago in Wind Valley just 5 minutes east of Canmore. Only one I've ever seen.

My cousins boyfriend was doing a study on wolverines in Northern Alberta near Rainbow Lake with the University of Alberta.

Saw three one day east of Stony Lake NE of Quesnel. All three together. I think it was a mother and her two nearly adult offspring.

wolverine

Many Alberta studies being done on wolverine, trappers have been involved with most of them. Large numbers of wolverine being found in Western foothills and Northern Boreal forests.

Many years ago I ran over one on the old Berland River road - 3 times ! When I left the scene he was still standing in the middle of the road daring me to try yet again. An incredible beast.

Seen what I presume were the same pair on three or four occasions in the same area while scouting/sheep hunting. Had the supreme pleasure of watching one of them chase down and kill a marmot on a perfectly calm morning. You could hear the last couple squeals of the marmot clearly from 3/4 mile away as the wolverine dispatched it.

While flying in Northern B.C. we watched one from the helicopter drag a large beaver out of the top of it's lodge. The chopper didn't seem to deter it much.

I used to get a B.C. tag and try and kill one every year but it was just never meant to be I guess. Usually had at least a sighting or two per year but just couldn't get it together on them.

When I was a kid my best friends dad killed one on his place S.E. of Three Hills. I think that one made the paper if I recall.

Yep. Biggest I wandered across in the Western Arctic. A mean amount of loft and hair length to boot. My Inuit buddies always bugged me for "wasting it" by getting it mounted rather than lining my parka hood... LOL.
