Yup, beavers don't like dawgs. Nothing new, maybe politicians shouldn't make dawg parks where beavers live.

Pretty tough for city politicians to figure that one out. Dave, I think you should call a meeting with them and explain that to them.

They can be aggressive and territorial. There is actually an instance where a guy died when one bit him and severed the femoral artery.

My ex worked as a field biologist. She had a video of one holding down a puddle in the middle of a quad trail. This beaver would not let them pass it was pretty cool to watch.

saw this before in the news. as i recall the idiot was complaining that there should be signs warning of wild animals in the river valley

Keep your dog on a leash, should solve the problem.

About 30 years ago on the farm we had a dog that loved to hunt muskrats - she'd bring one home almost every day, lay it on the doorstep and wait for the praise to be heaped upon her.

One day, I suspect she figured she hit the jackpot with this humungous 'muskrat' that turned out to be a beaver. It to about 40 stitches to put her back together again, it damn near gutted her.

I don't know a lot about beavers, though I did take a dead muskrat to 'show and tell' at school in about 1966. I kept forgetting to take it home and had to take it to the incinerator. I had it in a bread bag and had to hold it at arms length! Another day or two and it would have run beside me!

Your comment about the dog nearly getting gutted reminded me that male rabbits can literally castrate one another! I never would have believed this but I had to 'finish the job' when two male rabbits were housed together and one had large lacerations on his scrotum and at least one testis hanging 'by a thread'. I don't recall the status of the other testis. So, your comment about the beaver seems entirely believeable.
Cheers
John

I think they would fight to the goal of paralyzing the other is achieved if I recall correctly. They can be mean ornery little buggers.

Mudbug had a big one that I believe would put the run on a medium sized dog.

Eat everyone you see! Except for Mudbug's. He won't let me hunt his yard. :character0110:
