FHA auction
Guys, the lots and grades of our fur are listed for March 22nd auction. Hope the Asians have brought some real $$ money with them to this first site auction since pandemic.
|
This is the first year I shipped to furharvester auctions. Is the lots and grades on their website?
|
Yes. Log into your account and it's easy to find.
|
One of my fisher graded Select this year, sure hope FHA do not give such a quality fur away for peanuts.
|
I'm the past they have held selects over if asking price isn't reached.

A nice surprise; a top lot weasel (long tail of course)
Hear valuations on rats; beavers at nice levels, Beaver 20-35 US for fall; spring blankets. Rats 4-6 for 1X and larger. Let’s hope buyers take the treble hook Trappers need a bone … throw us one :sHa_shakeshout: |
Would be nice to see some of the inflation factor hit the raw fur market. I guess it’s not a component of the consumer price index.🤪

spoke to cheryl yesterday because i couldn't get in either.....she said lots of guys were having trouble getting in and helped me. couple minutes and i was in. working fine now.
|
Thats funny! I called mary cuz i missed the clicky thingers myself!

Fha
I caught some of FHA auction online for wolves and marten. Some $40 -60US marten but still some very low prices for poorer grades. Did anyone catch the fisher prices.
|
Fha
Fur Harvesters has posted some auction results. Check your accounts.
|
They must of had a pretty good clearance on western coyotes. All but 2 of mine from last year sold.
|
Just checked, Averaged $45 US on Marten, and $12.50 for fox.

i'm definitely out until prices show some strength. average 24.00 before fha takes their share and it wouldn't have been that high except i had one @ 50 and one @ 38. guess next year will be for target practice only
|
Ave 34$ before deducts on 50, 13 unsold mostly D colors.

Select Fisher did not sell but next best one went for $52, all but one marten went, best were $47, only one coyote unsold best went $50. Good clearances of pelts this year but $50 US top prices not much to get excited about.
|
can't make any $ like that cam
|
At least the coyotes sold but it's a tough pill to swallow when you watch select heavies that were almost 200$ 2 years ago sell for 50$. I know it is what it is but It still hurts.

Did castor sell?
I didn't have anything new this sale; just the unsolds from last year. Like others, my few coyotes cleared but only at mid 30s price. I even had a Select Heavy C that only brought $35. Only sold 8 of my 33 muskrats but the price was decent on those few at $7.60. My 8 squirrels sold for $1.50 each... not really helping with the retirement fund...lol.
All my #1 castor sold last year, but the #2 and #3 was held over for this sale. I don't have any listed as sold on my report yet and I didn't see castor listed in the order of sale. Does anyone know if castor moved at all? I'm encouraged by the beaver price! I just dropped off 51 for the next sale, so hoping the price stays where it is or continues to climb :) |
Castor always sells after the main auction. So hopefully right now.
|
Had great hopes on Muskrat for this sale, but the buyers selectively took the top and bottom lots only. I got 7.60 US on top and .50 - 2.60 on bottom. Perhaps next sale... Most of these rats have been "orphaned for awhile now. Valuations need to meet the market I guess.
US dollars below, on my shipment: Great to see a staple of the fur market back - Beaver! 44 top, 17.50 low, 33 average...... on ALL sizes including Med and Sm. amazing. What shocked me was how the prices kept rising during the Beaver auction, into the damages and smalls, culminating in a gob smacking $9.50 US for X Small DGD! Ha, pretty much says it all! An extra small just might cover the lap top I am typing on! ha some of the buyers were realizing that there would be no DEALS on that day, even on the marginal goods! Will the market sustain an inevitable increase in production now? Thoughts guys? Next sale probably safe, with only 3 week window between auction results and last receiving date. Next winter.... all bets are off. Marten a 66 high, 46.58 average, which is an improvement for sure Coyotes (mostly left over from last year - "picked over" lower end) + C colors etc. I am Ok with 50 high, 29.36 average. Will ship the good coyotes on next sale. Weasels did really well ... first top lot weasel for this trapper Fox no sale All in all, the fur market appears to have some life - even with all the geopolitical / economic issues going on in this crazy world! |
My little test sample of coyotes all sold. High 49, low 22. Basically back to prices in 2000. Was looking at some of my nafa receipts from those years. I can live with that. Just need to hunt harder next year.
|
My coyote average was $46 cad on 70 and I had four damaged(?) that didn’t sell
All leftovers from last year |
Did the castor sale happen yet?
