PAL turnaround time

My nephew mailed his PAL application out on September 19th. Will he see it back before November? If not I guess me or another card caring person would have to accompany him if he wants to hunt.

elkhunter11 10-01-2018 02:14 PM

If it is his first PAL, he will be luck to have it by the end of November.

Bassett 10-01-2018 02:23 PM

My first time took 11 months from when i shipped it. When i reapplied for my restricted it took 3 weeks. It would be safe to assume he will not have it.

JDK71 10-01-2018 02:44 PM

I had mine stolen in July and still have not got it a new one

BCSteel 10-01-2018 05:33 PM

Well there's a mandatory 3 month wait from when the feds receive it so I'd say not looking good.

Two months is the quickest from what I have read. Mine was about three last year. I have heard they are busier at this time of year.

It is a good idea to keep calling them, respectfully, to check in.

i just renewed online and received my new pal in two weeks. Mailing would take twice as long i'm sure.

Somehunter 10-01-2018 07:10 PM

One week for my renewal. Online was easy and quick.

X2, the online renewal was easy. For the photo I just took a selfie with my phone, had it back in a week and a half

New applications generally take much longer than renewals. Check out this ongoing thread from gunnutz - 141 pages of people discussing this. :-)

The mandatory wait time is 28 days, not three months.

The wait is often the longest in the summer/fall, with so many people applying just before the hunting seasons open.

Oh ya, my bad. It took 3 months for mine to come in including the one month wait time.

Restricted Online renewal July 20th 2018. Still waiting for it.

WLT 11-02-2018 08:03 AM

On October 11th I applied for my PAL renewal online. I didn't check my mailbox this week (Oct 29-Nov 2) until Nov 1. My new PAL was there - must be some sort of record?

Dave P 11-02-2018 08:14 AM

Buddy of min took his PAL on Sept 10th. Mailed it off Sept 11th, got his pal in the mail Nov 1st.

Had my PAL stolen

I applied for a replacement PAL after it was stolen. Received it within a month after applying, I was surprised.

teledogs 11-02-2018 09:03 AM

When I mailed in my 1st application I got in in about 45 days. I just renewed mine online and I got it back in 13 days.

Grizzly303 11-02-2018 09:06 AM

Mailed mine July 28th, still haven't got it, know a guy who mailed his August 28th and he just got it yesterday.

Big Red 250 11-02-2018 09:31 AM

I just got my renewal PAL 2 weeks ago. I did it by snail mail. Total time from mailing to receiving was 5 weeks.

Digger1 11-02-2018 10:37 AM

FWIW I just renewed my RPAL online. Received it in 16 days! I almost got warm and fuzzy feelings for the government for a minute.

ThroHap 11-02-2018 02:46 PM

My application was received mid Sept and license was issued 40 days later. A lot faster than I thought it would be.

lead chucker 11-02-2018 09:13 PM

Have you guys done a restricted renewal? And what's the average online renewal time for that. Mines up next year

schurchill39 11-04-2018 11:21 AM

Man I am jealous of you guys, I did the online renewal on August 10th thinking I would have it in time for Nov 1. Boy was I wrong. Its gone through the initial processing and according to the crusty lady at the RCMP its in front of the chief firearms officer now for the final approval. I'm supposed to call back after november to check in again.

Those of you that got it in a few weeks, I'd buy a lottery ticket if I were you.

I sent mine in early October and I still haven’t seen anything other than the charge on my credit card. That’s the online renewal.

Willy 1 11-04-2018 06:03 PM

Sent my application in mid August and got mine last week.
