Perch and Whitefish
Planning to go to go to Sylvan lake for another try sometime soon. I was wondering if anyone would give me tips on how to catch whitefish and bigger perch because last time I got only 2 8inch perch, a quality eye and a 68cm pike(released it, don't like pike).

I have heard that wire worms work for whitefish but I cant find them in any outdoor stores, so does anyone know how to make them?

Fishin Hole also carries them. You likely won't find them at places like Canadian Tire or Walmart, certainly not a good selection if they have them at all.
Lots of people have luck with copper wireworms, personally I have the best luck with red ones (they look like bloodworms) or yellow ones (more visible than red). San Juan worms can be very effective if the whitefish are aggessive. And wireworms with little glittery tails (forget what these are called) can be very effective sometimes because they resemble brine shrimp. |
Does anyone know any tactics for perch?

I have heard that small bucktail red jigs work for perch but when they are finicky what do i use?
