Fibre Glass Rods
Those of you that are using 3/8 " fiber glass rods for the HAGz clip & bracket system where would a fella buy the rods in bulk in Edmonton or other area . Wondering about 1/2 " rods for the XL Clips if a person can get them but probably expense . Any suggestions welcomed . Thanks

dont think they are available anywhere in Canada ?
They are graphite and they are costly to boot . i use them some depending where I am trapping .Not heavy but still a pain to stash in the pickup box , |
I think Gary G bought a bunch at Home Depot for some Sudden Valley clips, which didn't fit our CDN fibreglass... likely metric? But I don't think it was an issue with the Hagz.
You could try there tho |
Rally Hess is the man with the graphite drowning rods , BUT I dont have his number yet , will work on it and post it . apparently a pretty cool fellow

Do you have a blind or an ice fishing tent? If you do, see if a bracket will fit on a pole. They’d be close to the right size I think. I have a bunch of those rods and if they’ll work we’ll work something out.
If that doesn’t work, PM 209x50. Hagz is/was one of his sponsors and I recall him letting people know where to find the rods. |
I but my 3/8" FG rods in bulk at CO-OP. They fit the clips. Better to double check before you buy, but all the ones I picked up work just fine. My hands just got sore thinking about Muskrat trapping!

so you are not talking drowner rods for beaver?

No, simple fibreglass poles to use Hagz Brackets with. Attach bracket to your trap chain, slide bracket down pole which has been pushed into the mud and stick free end crossmember of frame into bracket. Replaces stool set, virtually obsolete floats for rats. A better unit than the sudden valley trap clip. Set trap at or below water level flat. Use bait or scent. Put them in the right places.
Phil Brown from PA, the famous fox man, used the sudden valley system 5 years ago and was doing 240 rat days with that system. |
