Canmore area stocked trout ponds.

Hello guys. Im a 15 Y/O who lives/loves to fish. Long story short…
My cousins who are 12 and 10 are coming to Alberta for a family reunion. We will be staying in Canmore. My aunt has been pestering to take them fishing when they get here. We will be in Canmore in a couple days. It would be a blast for them if they could get into some good action. They’ve never been fishing before. We would be using bait or some other simple tackle for them.
Thinking mt Lorette or grotto mountain pond.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks a million guys!

You’ve pretty much nailed it- Lorette and Grotto are your best bet for trout ponds.

The Quarry in Canmore holds grayling, and the dog pond just up from quarry lake used to (still does maybe?) hold brookies.

The river will be high and blown out so I don’t recommend it.

If they are into hiking, try some of the hike-in lakes in Peter Lougheed south of Canmore like Chester or Headwall.

Good luck!

Gap lake isn't far from Grotto. Spinners and small spoons might get you a brown trout or a brookie. No bait allowed. Put the browns back. Alberta's biggest rockie mountain white was caught in Gap too.

Scout out the stocking report

Mount lorette is only good for a week after stocking.

I’d be surprised if there are any fish left in Quarry.

Thanks so much guys! For some reason I forgot to mention… I actually did fish mt lorrete ponds once. Near the end of the day after not catching more then 1-2 fish we found a spot where they were stacked up and threw on a little red wire worm and went to town catching tons!!
But looking back we must have just gotten lucky and got there within a couple days of the stocking.
Open to more recommendations.
I will check out the lakes mentioned.
Thanks for your help! It’s great when people help out like this.
