Mule Deer Advice

Ok, been seeing a couple small bucks and a bunch of does for the past while out feeding daily. Wheat fields just got cut and baled over the weekend. I was out yesterday and didn't see any deer at all. Question: Are they likely to return (there are edge areas and low lying areas with food remaining)? Or am I scouting from scratch again? I am hoping its just a temporary disturbance from farming machines.

There may be some second growth that they feed on or possibly some split grain but in my experience, this will no longer be their main food source. Look for near by alfalfa fields with second growth or good pasture.

Chances are they won't move far, but i'm guessing they also won't keep visiting that field as regular as they have been.

Depends on where they sleep or bed over night, if it's through your field you'll probably still see them otherwise, it'll be a lot less likely.

They may still transition through that field. Had the same situation last year, the buck I killed was walking through, decided to lay down behind a bale to get out of the wind.
