Motorhome Genny Issues

Having some trouble with the fuel line for my Onan generator on my motorhome. The original metal line (copper?) that came from the fuel pump to a fuel filter to the carburetor was twisted and leaking so I decided to replace it. Onan recommended taking out the fuel filter attached to the carb as there is already a fuel filter online before the pump.

I put a 1/4” plug with a push on end into the carb. That worked great. I tried putting the same 1/4” plug with a push on end into the fuel pump. It tightens just enough by hand but once I put the wrench on it, it just spins loose and won’t tighten.

What kind of fitting should I be using? I attached some pics of what was in originally there, what the fuel pump looks like and what I bought.

The steel line fitting is not pipe thread. Any line that runs a flared fitting is never pipe thread

Ok. So the fitting that goes into the fuel pump will not be pipe thread? What do I need to ask for at a store?

Take your fittings with you and they can match up a crossover

Would a Bumper to Bumper type store carry what I need or do I need to head to a more specific type of shop?

Thanks. Sorry for all the questions. I live about an hour from 2 centers. I just want to make sure I pick the right town. This will be my third trip trying to get this fixed and I’m tired of making the drive! Haha

Ended up getting a piece of brake line and some fittings to make it work. Just need to make a couple bends and it should work.
