47-49” usually takes the albertaoutdoorsmen honours every year. You should enter I guess.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the 30 pounders were through the ice?

Yes sir,,, about as common as 14 lb geese and B&C whitetails!!!

In fact, B&C whitetails may even be more common than 50 " pike given that most years Alberta produces a few book deer, but as Dustin points out the winning pike is usually in the high 40" range.

Only two were under the ice. Just out of curiosity what's the heaviest pike you've heard come out of there? We all saw the fish from 2017 that was 37lbs.. any above that one?

That fish in ‘17 was nowhere near 37lbs and caught in Southern AB.

I usually fish Winifred 2 times a year for the last 7 years. More than some not as much as others. Lots of big fish. My PB weight 21lbs. PB length was 45” at 18.5lb. Lots in the 15-18 lb range. Love that lake.

Biggest I’ve personally seen another angler catch was shy of 50” at 27 lb. I would have thought it was heavier just by looking at the length and the giant gator head. I’d have guessed 30+.

Big fish are out there, but over 50” is for sure a respectable trophy

Attached : My best fly rod fish. 42” and 18 lb.
Was over the limit so it was kept for my grandma

I forgot about safety D. His opinions on winefred and his arguments with Paul from winefred outfitters about smoking dope were always good for a laugh.
