Wizard Lake Marine Stolen Boats

I don't usually think of this place being a good spot to mention thefts as if you start making individual threads of every stolen vehicle/quad/boat/etc it'll just flood the section, but thought this was worthy of posting.

Thiefs have some serious stones to pull this sort of stunt off. Not like those aren't highly indentifiable boats moving down the highway.

Drewski Canuck 09-13-2017 10:39 PM

In a shipping container already

The guys who do this stuff are very well organized. It is sort of like the trailer of Cat 797B tires stolen in Fort Mac some years ago. Who would buy such a thing? You would have to sell tires like that to some place that has big mine trucks and owners who don't care....

Yes, my guess is that they are headed to Russia.

Sad part is, the bad guys break the chain by using drop points and middle men who pick up the stuff without ever meeting the break in guys, and then move it very quickly to the coast and off shore.

If anyone gets caught, they cannot fink out the guys up the chain or down the chain. Everyone is protected and the ring continues to do its business.

Best of luck and hopefully Customs is inspecting the containers for these goods.

Oh no question, your average group of chucklers aren't going to steal four wake boats in one night, this is organized crime. My guess is that they likely didn't even take them far, either. Probably hidden on some acreage near Wizard/Calmar, getting ready for transport elsewhere if they're not already long gone.

I guess those things are worth some coin but gawd they're fugly.

hayseed 09-14-2017 02:20 PM

One would think they didn't go far before they were out of eye sight. Prolly sea-canned real quick and on a truck.

Unreal.

They are expensive boats .... they knew which ones to take :)

Roderek 09-14-2017 03:50 PM

At the boat show this year the G23 was going for $192,000.
If you are into Wakeboarding/surfing, this is the best boat on the market.

Trailer is too wide for a sea can but they likely have the sea cans set up to take the boat only and deal with the trailers in another way. Be a tight fit tho G23 8'6" beam. I believe a high cube is 8'6" inside????

They would cut the beam down, easy fix at dest

darren32 09-14-2017 04:33 PM

Beam as in width of the boat, not the tower.

Not fast enough, there wake boats designed for a nice wake not speed. They are fast but not drug runner fast.

EZM 09-14-2017 08:02 PM

These boats will not even come close to fitting into a sea can.

Red Bullets 09-14-2017 08:37 PM

What amazes me is this isn't the first time some of these fancy boats have been stolen from Wizard Lake Marine. About 8 years ago a few were stolen. I'm thinking this could be the same thieves. Amazed Wizard Marine didn't improve their security.
We used to own the land Wizard marine is on.

Gonna go way out on a limb and say you've never been on a G23 lol.

Definitely professionals, They used the shop's tractors to move other boats to get to these boats. So yeah. They knew what they were doing. The boat will get wrapped in vinyl a different color/design, and end up on the water here in canada/US.

Funny thing is, the end user market for high end stolen merch like this is usually folk who can full well afford to buy them new but they prefer to by-pass the 30% instant depreciation at the stroke of a pen that is standard with boats, cars, toys and such.

Kinda makes sense if you have those resources I guess. I wouldn't go that route but when you think of how dealerships rob people blind with impunity day in day out all year long it's no wonder there's a market for these products at a better deal.

Trochu 09-15-2017 08:32 AM

"Organized crime", because they took the most expensive boats on the lot and knew how to run a tractor? They likely weren't strung out druggies, but to think the mob did this for those reasons seems a bit of a stretch.

Well, considering they could've taken boats worth almost as much (w/o moving anything), they took 4 of the exact same model boats, and knew enough to grab a ladder, and move the camera. not to mention it conveniently happened hours before it poured. Which would wash any trace away. then there's the fact that they would need a way to dispose of the boats, which, to move 4 of those highend boats would involve some connections.

Yes.. Highly likely it was organized. But mob? no one said that. The mob is into things that are untraceable stuff, like meat/food/clothes/etc. But have you tried wakesurfing? I'm sure the mob has.. And it's fun..

Valid point, most movies I've watch involving the mob have at least one boating scene.

jstubbs 09-15-2017 02:02 PM

By organized crime, I mean it in the most literal definition. This was a well organized theft.

Crazy to hear people have spotted them in Manitoba already. Shocking to think they haven't been caught, especially bevause according to the sightings, the boats haven't been covered or anything yet.

Yes ... a mobster wakesurfing ... while running drugs ... with a dozen topless ladies partying to the extremely loud music .... flying across the water at 10 mph. Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure I have seen these guys a couple of times this summer :)
