Firearms Laws Reccomended to AB Gov.

Recommended by who? Seems a bit more like a pipe dream than anything.

Or is this how to start a negotiation? Ask for everything under the sun and chip away at it over time to get to the end goal but let the opposition think they got some sort of victory out of it each time? Is this not the same tactic being employed by the federal government for gun laws? They are starting from something completely ineffective for crime reduction, but will only take a little so they can say “we heard you”.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Even if left only in the firearms community you wont get support for half those demands, but best of luck to you guys. |
Can't access as I will never have a faceplant login.

It was a form letter from a little while ago.
It was asking for a significant relaxation on current laws firearm laws in Alberta. Being able to open carry while hunting, being able to fire off rounds from currently restricted class firearms on crown land, and Alberta police force to replace RCMP and a CFO from at least 2 years residency here etc. Basically, asking for laws and privileges similar to several US states, but not the most loose ones for restrictions, so somewhere between California and Texas. For everyone too afwaid of evil facebook :rolleye2:
(I bolded in red where I do not agree) RECOMMENDATIONS to ALBERTA GOVERNMENT 1. The appointment of an Alberta Chief Firearms Officer reporting to the Alberta Solicitor General and Minister of Justice: · Alberta residence for at least past 2 years. · Active in or very familiar with shooting sports (R PAL holder). · Non RCMP member due to anti gun culture generally in that organization. · Main agenda is compliance, safety and education. 2. Regulation changes: · Prohibited – eliminated for all classes except for full automatic & military. · Restricted – handguns only, no minimum barrel length. · Magazines – unrestricted capacity to manufacturers spec. · Noise suppressors to be allowed at target ranges and target shooting only. · Relaxation of rules for private ranges. · Allowance for shooting all classes of firearms (except Prohibited) on private and crown land. · Elimination of the confusion and perceived necessity of range membership to purchase handgun. · Wilderness protection to be accommodated by open carry handgun. This would include hunting, trappers, campers, fishing and any other wilderness activity. . 3. Handgun Hunting: · Same as rifle with sufficient calibre and energy to ensure humane kills. 4. Shall Issue Concealed Carry under following conditions: · Restricted license “R PAL” · Competency test, for example an “IPSIC Black Badge” would qualify. · Knowledge of applicable laws. · Use of Force training course. · 1stAid Certification. 5. Formation of Alberta Provincial Police: · The majority of Alberta gun owners would welcome the formation of a Prairie Police Force in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Government. |
Appreciate the feedback and suggestions/concerns welcomed - could you tell us why you disagree with those two points or what you would rather see?
Thanks. |

If you do not agree with wilderness protection open carry part How do you agree with handgun hunting ? As you be allowed to open carry for hunting ! As for concealed carry the people who would go by these regulations would be much safer , than your usual criminal who does not care about any of these regulations as they do as they please with out reguard for anybody’s safety. |
Agree with all points, except should allow suppressors to be allowed for hunting if the person so chose to use one.
Not sure what the point of restricted class is if users are allowed to use them on private and crown land, so get rid of restricted class entirely. I would be open to the idea of must have all firearms opaque cased and trigger locked in urban city limits, except at a range. when in legal use area, can be unlocked. |
