Is that a car shelter?

If yes, I was thinking of doing the same thing, but was worried that even with the stove jack the tarp would melt. How far is the stove from the side wall?

Any thread that can survive 8 years on AO I would say in in contention for "Best Thread Ever" award. Here are a couple from throughout the years, another member of the tipi club.

It is! Picked it up from Crap tire on for half price, it's the 10'x10'x8' model.

The stove was 2feet away, never had any issues. The wood stove is a converted 30Lbs propane tank. Kept that tent hot. Two different night I woke up sweating so bad the stove was glowing red.

I was quite happy with how it worked.

They work but seeing first hand all the moisture collecting on the ceiling then falling like rain because the shelter does t breath. A friend used one for mountain sledding camp and this is what happened.

Buy a canvas wall tent and frame. You will be happier in the end..that's my opinion

The thing that makes our camp special is the availability of water. Spring flows out of the ground with ice cold crystal clear water flooding a natural lowland. This is a 10 min quad ride away. This provides unlimited opportunity for bathing, not to mention the game it attracts. Does anyone else with an annual camp have this luxury?

My setup from this Nov.

I like it....

I use mine all the time. I set my 6 person dome tent up inside the 1 car Chinese garage and it makes for a pretty good weather proof shelter. Still leaves a little room for a small kitchen and sitting area. Never had much problems with moisture because the garage is not very airtight. It also gets used as a stand alone cook house, lounge and storage. One of the best 250 bucks I have spent out hunting. Bought mine on sale at Costco a few years back. I pack the parts up using one of those hand held Zippy cling wrap machines. Way cheaper and lighter than a outfitters tent. Sure works good to keep your tent and gear dry.
